A State Government department is seeking experienced Application Developers
to contribute to a range of high-impact IT projects. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic team delivering critical application services across their diverse operational landscape.
As an Application Developer, you will work within the Business Systems Portfolio, supporting a wide variety of ICT initiatives that directly impact policing services throughout the state.
Your Role - What You'll Be Doing
Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, you will:
- Deliver advanced technical design, development, and system analysis for their applications.
- Undertake full lifecycle development: analysis, design, coding, testing, documentation, implementation, and support.
- Lead enhancements to existing systems and contribute to the development of new, complex applications.
- Work closely with integration specialists, application support teams, and project stakeholders.
- Resolve critical incidents and contribute to maintaining high availability of their application suite.
- Participate in strategic continuous improvement initiatives and knowledge base development.
- Provide guidance to junior developers and liaise with external vendors on technical issues.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in application development and system integration, particularly in large, complex IT environments.
- Strong background in the .NET ecosystem, including:
- C# and .NET Framework/Core
- ASP.NET MVC/Web API
- Entity Framework or equivalent ORM
- SQL Server (including advanced query writing)
- RESTful API development and integration
- Unit testing frameworks (MSTest, xUnit, NUnit)
- Familiarity with front-end tech (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Angular/React).
- Experience with:
- Visual Studio and Git
- CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps)
- Azure services (App Services, Functions, Key Vault)
- Solid understanding of software development practices (Agile, DevOps, SDLC).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to lead technical activities and contribute across project and support environments.
- Experience working in policing or justice sector IT.
- Knowledge of government IT standards and procurement processes.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields.
