Partnered exclusively with NSW Ports | Port Botany location | Hybrid work environment
Halcyon Knights is proud to once again partner with NSW Ports
to appoint a key member of their IT team — an experienced Business Analyst / Project Manager
to lead business-critical systems and technology initiatives.
This is a unique opportunity to join a trusted Australian infrastructure organisation that plays a vital role in the state’s supply chain, operating across Port Botany and Port Kembla.
About the Company
NSW Ports
is a privately owned consortium of leading institutional investors including IFM Investors, AustralianSuper, Tawreed Investments Limited, QSuper, Cbus, HESTA and Hostplus. Collectively, these investors represent more than six million Australian superannuation fund members and are long-term custodians of critical national infrastructure.
The Opportunity
Reporting into the IT leadership team, you’ll act as the bridge between business strategy and technology delivery — shaping, managing and delivering innovative IT system solutions that enable NSW Ports’ current and future business objectives.
In this role, you will engage with internal and external stakeholders to gather, analyse and document business requirements, translating these into technical solutions that align with NSW Ports’ architectural and security standards. You’ll lead and manage new system implementations and enhancements through the full project lifecycle, from concept through to delivery, post-implementation review and support in conjunction with the vendor.
You will develop project charters, manage vendors, and ensure governance frameworks and delivery timelines are met. A key part of your role will also involve implementing effective change management and staff training programs to ensure smooth adoption of new systems. In addition, you’ll evaluate emerging technologies, provide strategic recommendations to senior management, and deliver insights that drive continuous improvement.
About You
You’re a seasoned IT professional with a balance of analytical, technical and delivery skills — someone who can move comfortably between stakeholder conversations and hands-on project execution.
You’ll hold a degree in IT, Computer Science or a related discipline, and have at least seven years’ experience as a Business Analyst or hybrid BA/PM, ideally within the supply chain, logistics or infrastructure sectors. You’ll bring strong understanding of business processes, systems integration and enterprise applications, alongside practical project management and change management experience.
Your strengths will include analytical thinking, problem-solving, communication and stakeholder engagement. You will also have experience with integration technologies such as XML, EDI and APIs, and a sound understanding of system engineering principles and software development lifecycles, including Agile and Waterfall. Excellent vendor management capability, application support experience, Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency, and a current driver’s licence are essential.
Why Join NSW Ports?
This is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping technology solutions that support critical Australian infrastructure. You’ll work in a collaborative, values-led environment where your ideas will influence real outcomes. NSW Ports offers a hybrid working model with onsite presence at Port Botany, along with long-term career stability in a respected, future-focused organisation.
