Senior Android Developer | 6 Month Contract | Melbourne (Hybrid)
Our client, a well-known Australian tech company, is looking for a Senior Android Developer to join their mobile engineering team on a 6 month contract.
About the role
You'll work within a product-focused engineering team building and improving native Android experiences used by millions of Australians. This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to contribute from day one.
What you'll do
  • Design, build, and maintain features in a large-scale native Android app
  • Write clean, well-tested Kotlin code
  • Collaborate closely with product, design, and backend engineers
  • Contribute to code reviews and help maintain engineering best practices
  • Work within an agile team, participating in sprint planning and stand-ups
Tech stack
  • Kotlin, Jetpack Compose (or XML/View-based UI)
  • MVVM / MVI architecture, Android Jetpack libraries (Navigation, Room, WorkManager, Lifecycle)
  • Coroutines and Flow for async/concurrency
  • Dagger/Hilt for dependency injection
  • Retrofit/OkHttp for networking
  • JUnit, Espresso, and Mockito for testing
  • Git, CI/CD via GitHub Actions, Bitrise, or similar
  • Firebase (Crashlytics, Analytics, Remote Config)
What you'll bring
  • Strong commercial experience building native Android apps (Kotlin essential)
  • Solid understanding of Android architecture components (MVVM, Jetpack, Coroutines)
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
  • Comfortable working in an agile, fast-paced product environment
  • Right to work in Australia
