Our client, a well-known Australian tech company, is looking for a Senior Android Developer to join their mobile engineering team on a 6 month contract.
About the role
You'll work within a product-focused engineering team building and improving native Android experiences used by millions of Australians. This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to contribute from day one.
What you'll do
- Design, build, and maintain features in a large-scale native Android app
- Write clean, well-tested Kotlin code
- Collaborate closely with product, design, and backend engineers
- Contribute to code reviews and help maintain engineering best practices
- Work within an agile team, participating in sprint planning and stand-ups
- Kotlin, Jetpack Compose (or XML/View-based UI)
- MVVM / MVI architecture, Android Jetpack libraries (Navigation, Room, WorkManager, Lifecycle)
- Coroutines and Flow for async/concurrency
- Dagger/Hilt for dependency injection
- Retrofit/OkHttp for networking
- JUnit, Espresso, and Mockito for testing
- Git, CI/CD via GitHub Actions, Bitrise, or similar
- Firebase (Crashlytics, Analytics, Remote Config)
- Strong commercial experience building native Android apps (Kotlin essential)
- Solid understanding of Android architecture components (MVVM, Jetpack, Coroutines)
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
- Comfortable working in an agile, fast-paced product environment
- Right to work in Australia
- Contract length: 6 months (strong chance of extension)
