ASO5 Editor & Proofreader
Location: Adelaide CBD
Classification: ASO5 $59.05 per hour.
Tuesday 11 August to Friday 16 October  
Contract: Full-time Contract (must be available for the entire assignment)
We are seeking an experienced Editor & Proofreader for an exciting ASO5 opportunity with a South Australian Government department based in the Adelaide CBD.
This role is ideal for a highly organised editorial professional with exceptional attention to detail and a passion for producing clear, accurate and accessible content. You will play a key role in preparing curriculum, educational resources and supporting materials for publication across both digital and print platforms.
Key Responsibilities
  • Edit and proofread curriculum, learning resources and supporting documentation for publication.
  • Ensure all content is clear, accurate, consistent and aligned with government and departmental publishing standards.
  • Maintain the author's intent while improving readability, grammar, spelling and overall quality.
  • Apply editorial style guides and publishing conventions across a variety of documents.
  • Identify inconsistencies, omissions, formatting issues and errors before publication.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and key stakeholders to deliver high-quality published materials.
  • Manage multiple documents and competing priorities while meeting strict deadlines.
About You To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
  • Proven professional editing and proofreading experience.
  • Exceptional written communication skills with an excellent command of grammar, spelling and plain English.
  • The ability to quickly understand complex educational or technical content and edit it effectively without changing the intended meaning.
  • Experience applying style guides, editorial standards and government publishing conventions.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and collaborative communication skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Word skills, including extensive experience using Track Changes.
  • Experience using Microsoft Teams.
  • Knowledge of accessibility requirements or digital publishing practices will be highly regarded.
Mandatory Requirement
  • A current Working with Children Check (WWCC) is essential.
