About the Opportunity A large South Australian State Government agency is seeking an experienced Senior Finance Business Partner (ASO6) to join their Financial Management team on a 6-month contract. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with senior stakeholders to support financial planning, reporting, and strategic decision-making across a complex government environment.
You will play a key role in delivering high-level financial analysis, budgeting coordination, and advisory services, ensuring the effective management of operational and capital budgets while supporting organisational priorities.
This position is based full-time in the Adelaide CBD and requires someone who can commence as soon as possible.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-level financial reporting and analysis to support operational and strategic decision-making.
- Coordinate and manage budget development, monitoring, forecasting, and financial performance reporting across business units.
- Partner with senior leaders and operational managers to provide expert financial advice and insights.
- Prepare and review capital, revenue, and recurrent budgets, including financial modelling and costings for business cases.
- Identify financial risks, trends, and cost-saving opportunities to support effective resource allocation.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders to support financial governance and accountability.
- Support financial planning processes, program funding management, and financial briefings for leadership teams.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of financial management processes, controls, and reporting frameworks.
- A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Significant experience in financial business partnering within a government environment.
- Strong experience in budget development, forecasting, financial analysis, and reporting.
- A strong understanding of South Australian State Government budgeting processes and frameworks (essential).
- Knowledge of government financial management policies, Treasury instructions, and Australian Accounting Standards.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and advisory skills with the ability to influence senior leaders.
- Proven ability to analyse complex financial information and provide clear recommendations.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver within tight timeframes.
