Our government client is seeking an experienced Media Advisor to join them on a temporary basis. This role offers the chance to work at the heart of a government service, shaping how they communicate with the community and stakeholders during a dynamic period of growth and change.
About the role:
- Develop and execute media strategies that build public engagement
- Manage media relations, including press releases, media briefings, and stakeholder communications
- Organise and contribute to management of media events to promote projects and support announcements.
- Integrate use of social media in the release of information to the media and community.
- Perform media monitoring and reporting tasks.
- Maintain contemporary media awareness, connections and skills
- Work with the business to provide advice on management strategies
About you:
- You will have proven experience in media relations, public relations, or corporate communications
- You will have strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deliver clear messaging to all stakeholders and the community
- You will have experience managing media inquiries and developing media strategies in a fast-paced environment
- You will have previous experience working in media or PR within a Government entity (local, state or Federal), Stat Body or Government Owned Corporation
- You will have strong IT skills and will have previous experience working with media monitoring tools and digital communication platforms
Required Qualifications:
- You will have either a Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field
- You will hold either Professional qualification in Public Relations or Communications (e.g. PRIA membership or equivalent)
