About the Opportunity We are seeking an experienced PO3 Engineer to join the Preservation & Maintenance team within a Queensland State Government agency.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineering professional to contribute to the delivery, maintenance and improvement of road and bridge infrastructure across the Gold Coast and surrounding region.
Working under the guidance of senior engineering staff, you will be involved in project management, contract administration, technical support, construction and maintenance activities, helping to deliver safe, high-quality and value-for-money infrastructure outcomes.
About the Team The Preservation & Maintenance team is responsible for maintaining and protecting infrastructure assets while enhancing safety through the delivery of maintenance, rehabilitation and various infrastructure and safety projects.
You will work as part of a collaborative project delivery environment, supporting the planning, design, construction and maintenance of road and bridge infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities In this role, you will:
  • Project manage the delivery of road infrastructure projects under the guidance of senior engineering staff.
  • Administer contracts and provide technical expertise throughout the design, construction and maintenance lifecycle.
  • Coordinate key operational activities, resources and project management processes to support successful project delivery.
  • Determine appropriate road and bridge maintenance procedures and work instructions.
  • Manage road and bridge maintenance activities and associated tasks.
  • Assist with selecting appropriate contract processes and administer contracts to ensure compliance and successful delivery.
  • Calculate quantities for component materials and analyse material and testing results.
  • Identify non-conformances and determine appropriate controls during construction.
  • Conduct and manage project and construction risk assessments.
  • Identify potential issues and negotiate modifications or adaptations to design briefs where required.
  • Provide engineering support and advice throughout planning and design processes.
  • Help ensure project outcomes, value for money and engineering best practice are achieved.
  • Ensure quality management procedures are followed throughout project delivery.
  • Undertake inspections of works and release hold points during construction and maintenance activities where required.
  • Maintain effective communication and positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
About You We are looking for an engineering professional who is analytical, proactive and confident working across project delivery, construction and maintenance environments.
You will ideally demonstrate:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with sound judgement and decision-making capability.
  • The ability to research, analyse and interpret technical information.
  • Experience with project management and contract administration.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • The ability to build positive and productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A proactive and self-directed approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities and unexpected issues.
  • Strong technical knowledge and a commitment to maintaining high professional standards.
  • The ability to work collaboratively while also operating effectively with limited supervision.
Mandatory Requirements To be considered for this position, you must have:
  • A four-year Bachelor of Engineering accredited under the Washington Accord, or an equivalent qualification assessed and accepted by Engineers Australia against Washington Accord benchmarks.
  • A current Class C driver's licence.
  • A current Construction Industry Induction (White Card).
  • Your own suitable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • The ability to successfully complete Criminal History Screening.
