- Team: Preservation & Maintenance, Delivery Lead the delivery of critical road infrastructure projects that improve safety, preserve assets and support communities across the region.
The Opportunity As a Senior Project Engineer, you will be responsible for managing the delivery of road infrastructure projects from planning and procurement through to construction and completion. You will work closely with contractors, consultants, technical specialists and key stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time and within budget.
This role offers a diverse portfolio of projects, exposure to complex engineering challenges and the opportunity to influence outcomes that directly impact community safety and network performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Project manage the delivery of road maintenance, rehabilitation and safety improvement projects.
- Manage contract administration activities and act as the Principal's Representative throughout project delivery.
- Prepare project reports, including progress updates, expenditure tracking and forecasting.
- Lead procurement activities, including tender documentation, tender evaluation and contract award processes.
- Provide technical engineering advice relating to planning, design, constructability, materials and project delivery methodologies.
- Ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards, environmental requirements, policies and legislative obligations.
- Coordinate project resources and provide leadership to engineering and technical teams.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, consultants, operational teams and external stakeholders.
- Identify and manage project risks, stakeholder issues and complex delivery challenges.
- Champion safety outcomes and foster a positive project culture focused on quality and continuous improvement.
- Proven experience delivering civil or road infrastructure projects through the full project lifecycle.
- Strong project management and contract administration capabilities.
- Experience managing construction contractors, consultants and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Demonstrated success delivering projects within scope, budget and schedule.
- Knowledge of procurement processes, tender evaluations and contract management.
- Well-developed stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a commitment to safety, quality and value-for-money outcomes.
- Experience working within complex operational environments, including urban road networks and high-speed corridors.
- Degree qualifications in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Registration as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) or eligibility to obtain registration.
- Ability to mentor and support engineers, graduates and technical staff.
- Current driver's licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
