Principal Architect - AI Transformation

About the Role
We're looking for a Principal Architect to lead AI Transformation within a large enterprise technology function. This role provides technical leadership across AI architecture domains and related areas, ensuring pragmatic alignment to technology strategy, prioritised delivery of architecture outcomes, and a consistent focus on the ongoing suitability, stability, and sustainability of the technology ecosystem.
The successful candidate will act as the architecture authority for AI across the organisation, working closely with senior technology and business leaders to shape direction, governance, and delivery outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide thought leadership in the AI domain as the architecture authority across the organisation
- Advise General Managers, Heads of Technology, Leads, and other stakeholders, with particular focus on supporting AI Transformation initiatives
- Deliver and maintain core architecture artefacts, including domain technology strategies, architecture blueprints, patterns, and models
- Govern technology decisions, including solution alignment and product selection
- Support and maintain architecture practices and processes across the broader architecture community
- Oversee the delivery of solution architecture for initiatives across multiple domains
- Provide direction, coaching, and support to Solution Architects
- Operate the Application Health Check process across multiple domains
- Own and manage elements of technology risk, with particular focus on AI-related risk (internal and external)
- 10+ years of technology experience working across multiple domains
- 5+ years of architecture experience across multiple enterprise initiatives
- 2+ years of demonstrated architecture capability delivering tangible AI outcomes, including multi-agent architectures, agent orchestration patterns, and human-agent collaboration models
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, including at executive level
- Demonstrated problem-solving leadership across business and technical challenges
- Strong understanding of technologies across impacted domains, and the business domains they support
- Demonstrated experience contributing to technology strategy
- Experience with architecture frameworks and practices
- Experience across multiple delivery frameworks (Agile, Waterfall, hybrid)
- Experience working with regulators highly regarded
- Demonstrated leadership within multi-discipline teams
- Financial services / wealth management experience preferred
