Reporting to the Executive Director, the Senior Return to Work Coordinator is responsible for the delivery, coordination and continuous improvement of return to work systems, services and processes. The role manages complex and high-risk injury management matters and provides expert advice to senior leaders, managers and employees in accordance with the Return to Work Act 2014 and government performance standards.
You will work closely with internal stakeholders, external providers and statutory bodies to ensure injured workers are supported to achieve safe, timely and sustainable return to work outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a complex and high-risk return to work caseload for operational and non-operational employees
- Assess injured worker needs and develop, implement and review tailored return to work plans
- Provide expert advice to managers and employees on return to work and claims processes
- Coordinate and participate in multidisciplinary case conferences
- Liaise with medical practitioners, claims managers, legal representatives and unions
- Monitor and review recovery outcomes, including oversight of external providers
- Contribute to policy development, auditing programs and continuous improvement initiatives
- Develop and deliver training to managers and supervisors on return to work obligations
- Represent the Department in disputed matters before the SA Employment Tribunal
- Ensure compliance with legislation, government performance standards and internal policies
- Maintain confidentiality in a sensitive and high-pressure environment
You are a highly experienced return to work professional with strong legislative knowledge and the ability to manage complex cases in a dynamic operational environment. You are confident working with senior stakeholders and demonstrate sound judgement, resilience and professionalism.
Essential Requirements
- Extensive experience in return to work and injury management case management
- Strong knowledge of the Return to Work Act 2014, regulations and government performance standards
- Proven ability to develop and implement effective return to work strategies
- High-level written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities
- Current driver's licence and willingness to travel
- Completion of, or willingness to undertake, Return to Work Coordinator certification
- Direct RTW coordination experience and examples
- Experience applying Return to Work Act 2014 (SA) in practice
- Evidence of managing complex and high risk workplace injury matters (including RTW plans and liaison with insurer, rehab providers, and treating practitioners
