We're looking for an experienced procurement professional to join a small team to support end-to-end procurement activities, improve procurement practices, and help shape the future of procurement across a diverse organisation for approximately 3-6 months.  This can be either working a .08 or full time.

You'll play a key role in delivering value-for-money outcomes while supporting governance, contract management, sustainability initiatives, and continuous improvement.
 
This role combines hands-on procurement delivery with strategic improvement initiatives, making it ideal for someone who enjoys balancing operational excellence with process improvement.

Key responsibilities
  • Lead medium-complexity end-to-end procurement projects across capital works and professional services.
  • Develop procurement strategies, market approaches, evaluation methodologies, and tender documentation.
  • Manage procurement processes from planning through to contract award.
  • Provide expert procurement advice to internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies, governance requirements, and legislative obligations.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation.
  • Provide procurement guidance and quality assurance across the organisation.
  • Support business units with procurement planning and scheduling.
  • Review procurement documentation to ensure consistency and best practice.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Promote sustainable procurement principles and sound commercial decision-making.
  • Contribute to procurement improvement initiatives, including contract management, templates, reporting, and procurement systems.
  • Develop practical tools, guides, and resources that improve procurement capability.
  • Support implementation of procurement and contract management frameworks.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, commercial outcomes, and organisational value.
  • Ensure procurement activities meet policy, legislative, and audit requirements.
  • Maintain high standards of probity, transparency, and accountability.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and organisational change initiatives.
About you
  • Have experience working in Local Government - Essential 
  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, Commerce, or a related discipline (CIPS or equivalent highly regarded).
  • Demonstrated experience delivering end-to-end procurement in a complex organisation.
  • Experience across categories such as capital works, engineering, infrastructure, facilities, property, operations, or professional services.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement governance, contract management, and legislative compliance.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Experience developing procurement documentation, evaluation reports, and commercial recommendations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives and procurement capability uplift.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and procurement or ERP systems.
