About the Opportunity
An established digital commerce company is continuing to grow its Shopify capability and is looking for a senior Shopify specialist who enjoys being just as comfortable in front of a client as they are getting hands-on with the technology.
Working across a varied portfolio of ecommerce clients, you'll have the opportunity to take real ownership of technical outcomes – understanding what a client is trying to achieve, shaping the right solution and then seeing it all the way through to production.
This isn't a role where you'll simply be handed tickets to build. You'll work closely with clients, Solution Architects, Project Managers and engineering teams, contributing to discovery, technical solutioning and delivery across everything from ongoing support and smaller pieces of work through to larger Shopify Plus implementations.
The Role
This is a hands-on role with genuine end-to-end ownership.
The role sits between a Senior Engineer and a Solution Architect – you’ll still be hands-on with development, but with greater ownership across technical solutioning, client conversations and taking work from discovery right through to production, without the people-management piece of a traditional Tech Lead.
You'll work directly with clients to understand requirements, translate them into practical Shopify solutions and then remain involved through development, integrations, testing, UAT, deployment and go-live.
Alongside delivery, you'll contribute to technical standards, deployment tooling, Shopify architecture and the continued adoption of AI-enabled engineering practices across the team.
If you enjoy solving ecommerce problems, building Shopify solutions and having the autonomy to influence how something should be delivered rather than simply being told what to build, this could be a great next step.
The Tech
We're interested in speaking with experienced Shopify Developers, Technical Consultants or Engineers with experience across some or all of the following:
- Shopify Plus and enterprise ecommerce environments
- Shopify Online Store and Liquid
- Hydrogen and modern Shopify development
- Shopify CLI, Markets and Functions
- Shopify Apps and UI Extensions
- Storefront and Admin APIs
- Custom Shopify app development
- Third-party integrations including ERP, loyalty, fulfilment and POS platforms
- CI/CD and automated Shopify deployment pipelines
- Integration testing, UAT and production releases
- AI tooling, LLM integrations or AI-enabled ecommerce workflows
You'll ideally have 5+ years of hands-on Shopify development experience, alongside experience delivering Shopify solutions directly to clients within an agency, consultancy or professional services environment.
Strong communication skills are important – you'll need to be comfortable leading technical conversations, explaining complex concepts in straightforward language and challenging an approach when you believe there's a better way forward.
