Our client is an established, multi-site Australian retailer with a strong bricks-and-mortar presence across the country and a growing digital and operational footprint to match. Behind the customer-facing operation sits a business running on serious complexity: store networks, supply chains, customer journeys, and the internal systems that tie it all together. They're building out their tech team, and they're looking for a Python developer who wants to lead — not just ship tickets.
The Role
This is a hands-on technical leadership position. You'll work directly with stakeholders across the business to understand how things actually work, then build and maintain the systems that make them work better. You'll own solutions end-to-end (from scoping through to deployment) and lead and mentor a small team of two developers.
Day to day, you'll be:
- Translating real business requirements into production-ready Python solutions
- Building, customising, and extending their ERP workflows (they work with Odoo, though experience in any ERP platform is warmly welcomed)
- Designing with MVC principles and working comfortably with XML in configuration and integration contexts
- Driving API and third-party system integrations
- Championing code quality, testing, documentation, and best practices
- Contributing to architectural direction and long-term system strategy
What They're Looking For
- Strong Python development experience in production environments
- Solid grounding in MVC architecture and XML
- Experience with an ERP platform - Odoo is a nice-to-have, but SAP, NetSuite, MYOB Advanced, or similar is absolutely fine
- Ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Proven experience leading or mentoring developers
- A commercial mindset - someone who thinks about impact, not just implementation
