Melbourne
The Company
They’re a long-established Australian retail business with a strong national footprint, currently investing heavily in modernising their internal systems.
This isn’t a typical “tech for tech’s sake” environment. The focus is on building systems that directly improve how the business operates day to day
The Opportunity
This is a major ERP implementation and transformation piece, not a maintenance role.
You’ll be coming in at a point where there’s a real opportunity to put your stamp on how systems are designed, built, and rolled out across the business. From shaping architecture through to influencing how teams actually use the platform day to day, your impact will be visible.
It’s ideal for someone who enjoys owning problems end-to-end, working closely with stakeholders, and building something properly rather than incrementally patching what’s already there.
You’ll also lead a small team, helping lift standards while staying hands-on technically.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Designing and building production-grade systems using Python
- Leading the development and evolution of ERP systems (Odoo or similar)
- Translating real business requirements into scalable, maintainable solutions
- Customising workflows to support operational processes across the business
- Designing APIs, integrations, and end-to-end system interactions
- Leading two developers (code reviews, mentoring, technical direction)
- Driving best practices across code quality, testing, and documentation
- Contributing to architectural decisions and long-term system strategy
What We’re Looking For
- Strong commercial experience with Python in production environments
- Experience building or working on ERP systems (Odoo highly regarded)
- Proven ability to take systems from concept through to implementation
- Experience leading or mentoring engineers
- Ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Nice to Have
- Experience with API and third-party integrations
- Exposure to modernising legacy systems
- Experience with Docker and CI/CD pipelines
Next Steps
If you’re someone who enjoys building systems that genuinely improve how a business runs (not just shipping features), this is worth a conversation.
